A Note from our President

I would like to take the opportunity to welcome everyone to the Bayou State Corvette Club.  We are a group of Corvette enthusiasts who come together to share a common bond in that we all like Corvettes.  You do not have to own a Corvette to join, just be a Corvette enthusiast.  I would like to invite you to attend our meeting on the 15th of February to meet us and to learn more about our club.  We are looking forward to fun year.

A Note from our Activity Chair

On Sunday, March 25th our President called it’s first official Board Meeting. Clint is new as President, but is on top of things and making sure that he conducts business by dotting his I’s and crossing his T’s. Also, Paul Giambrone, that’s me, was voted as your newsletter editor for the current year. Thus, I am now officially a Board Member for the BSCC for the current year. While mentioning this, this position can be yours if you wish to contribute to the overall well being of the club. Please check our web page and see who is all on the Board, serving you for the 2018 year.

I attended the Ford Mustang Club of Acadiana in Breaux Bridge on Saturday March 24th and was pleasantly surprised how many participants were in the show and also the large number of spectators. They had a 1929 Ford Car/pick up to a 2006 Ford GT and dozens of models in between. All participants were given door prizes and a ditty bag with all sorts of goodies. All in all, it was a nice event and very friendly folk!! Also this past weekend, I was in attendance at the Twin Peaks Cruise In on Johnston St and had a few regulars and a few newbies! Chet Dias was there in his beautiful blue 2008 convertible. I got a chance to talk and visit with some new people in their Corvette’s! To me, that’s what it is all about! I guess this would be an appropriate time to mention all you guys are invited to the local Cruise In’s with or without your Vet! Come out and say hello, even if it’s only for an hour or two. You never know who you might run into, meet, and talk cars, politics (yuk) or any subject matter that may arise. Also, if you have attended a function and would like to share your experience’s with us, please do so! Just drop me a line or email me your event and we will get it on our web page for all to read. Don’t forget some pix, that really sets it off!!
Don’t know if this will make the web page before the weekend, but there is a Cruise In (check our web page for the detail and dates of all local Cruise In’s) at Autozone on Ambassador, just in front of Lowe’s, on Saturday March 31 from 11-2. Store manager Tyler has been so pumped up about this, he can’t sleep at night. Autozone has never hosted a Cruise In and I have been relentlessly asking fellow members to bring their honey to the location for fun and cars. Tyler is talking about door prizes, getting his employees to do a quick judging on the best car there! Could be yours, BUT YOU HAVE TO BE THERE!!! Tyler mentioned to me about cooking some hot dogs and such! Also want to thank Russell with Hub City Cruisers for his help and in put! Come on guys be a supporter of these events! I know that you can’t make all of them, but give a little effort and see what happens.

We also have several events upcoming, some all Corvettes and some will have everything from A-Z! Pick your poison and come say hello and introduce yourself!

Car Show 2018

Our Annual Car Show is slated for November 3rd, 2018 at Cajun Harley Davidson.  The flyer for the show and the sponsor form are being updated and will be uploaded on our Event/Show Flyer page.  Be sure to contact Maxie Rodriguez to let him know how you will help out at this year’s show.  Many hands make for light work and we’d like to have another great show this year.

Corvettes and Coffee

Ken Turner has invited the club members to join him and his friends on Saturday mornings for Corvettes and Coffee.  The meeting place is subject to change but they usually meet around 8:00am, weather permitting, to drink coffee, talk about their cars, and solve the world’s problems. If you’d like to join them, contact Ken Turner and they will add you to their text group to get updates on locations.

Swap Shop

Check out our new Swap Shop page.  If you’ve got something to sell, your car, your parts, or anything Corvette related, send an email to Ken Turner and he’ll add it to the website.  Make sure to let him know when it sells, so that the page can stay up to date.

 Local Car Cruise In

Check the calendar for a local cruise ins every weekend.  If you are looking for something to do, the calendar is your place to check.  If you come across a car show or cruise in that is not listed, let us know so we can add.
